So, let me start off by saying I am an avid coffee drinker. I make my own coffee and (quite frankly) a lot of times it is better that some of the coffee(s) that are being hocked by these fast food chains… I'm looking at you McDonald's, Jack in the Box, and Dunkin Donuts.
If you must know I prefer coffee based on it's country of origin as the beans sources have distinctively different tastes. Hawaiian-style Kona coffee beans are my favorite. My favorite creamers are White Chocolate Mocha, Italian Sweet Cream, and Dunkin Donuts Extra Extra Creamer. Note: Ironically, you may notice that I like Dunkin Donuts' creamer but not their coffee.
But, enough about coffee…
I have found something to replace coffee and it is Gatorade Bolt 24 (stylized as BOLT24). This drink is intriguing because it comes in 2 varieties and 1 of them contains both caffeine and the hydration qualities of a Gatorade, but let's dive in deeper, shall we…
Ingredients and Notes of Importance:
- There are 2 versions of this drink: The Energize (with caffeine) and the Antioxidant.
- This drink contains no (pure) fruit juice.
- It has 80 calories.
- It has 230 mg of sodium, which will seem like a lot of salt but this is "explained away" by stating that this drink has sea salt in it for electrolytes.
- Total Carbs are 20 g and that makes up 7% of the suggested daily value for intake.
- It only has 19 g of sugar. Better than the 40-50 g of sugar found in most leading brands of soda. Keep in mind that this should be a drink that you drink in the morning.
- Potassium: 60mg
- Vitamin A: 900mcg (100% DV)
- Vitamin B: 17mg (100% DV)
- Vitamin C: 90mg (100% DV)
- Niacin (Vitamin B-3): 16mg (100% DV)
- Pantothenic Acid: 5mg (100% DV)
- An interesting ingredient in this drink is clarified watermelon concentrate (for hydration, of course).
- Includes purified stevia leaf extract (reducing the sugar).
- The Energize version has an added 50mg of caffeine, which is great compared to the average cup of coffee which has 95mg of caffeine.
