In a not-so-shocking move by
Microsoft, the company has decided to streamline the music/entertainment experience associated with the Microsoft brand to all be under the umbrella of
XBox Music. Now, before anyone flips their lid,
no you are not losing anything from
Zune, this is just a name change. Microsoft have proven to be late bloomers in the mobile entertainment market (i.e. smart phones) but are obviously looking to change all that with their new
Windows phones (such as the
Nokia). This move is identical to the one
Google made earlier this year when they merged
Google Music and
The Android Market into one entity,
Google Play. These transitions only make sense because otherwise it'd be confusing for consumers to have to associate with multiple brands and it saves money on advertising for Microsoft to advertise one brand instead of two.
